description

With the help of Aeropress, you can make sure you get impeccable coffee 100% of the time. The Aeropress is a manually operated device capable of producing pro-standard cups of filter coffee and espresso in a jiffy. Simply put a couple of scoops of your favourite coffee in the top, stick a filter in (included) and pour in some hot water then, using the plunger, press down and in under 30 seconds you're finished. The result? A gentle blend and roast. A richer, smoother flavour.

  • Total immersion of the grounds in the water results in rapid yet robust extraction of flavor
  • "Because of the lower temperature and short brew time, the acid level of the brew is much lower than conventional brewers."
  • Micro-filtered coffee so pure and particle-free that it can be stored for days as a concentrate.
  • AeroPress is chamber is nearly self-cleaning. A 10-second rinse of the plunger is all that's required.
  • "Compact, perfect for camping."

I have not tried this on a camping trip yet (well, it is still February), but at home I find it brilliant. I was looking at various coffee machines to replace one which had broken, and decided that I would try this before investing in a more expensive machine. It is simple, easy to clean, needs no electricity, and - most important - makes delicious coffee.

One addition I made was to use the cup from another unused coffee maker which had been languishing at the back of my camping cupboard for a few years (a cafetiere hot mug) which was too difficult to clean. I use this as I feel uneasy about putting pressure on a china mug.

With this press, you can choose your own coffee, and adjust the strength. The cost of the filters is minimal, and it is a doddle to clean and store.

At home, I combine this with a Bodum coffee frother - not sure if I will keep to this when camping, but I am sure that the aeropress will earn its place with our camping essentials.

The only reason I might add a coffee machine at home is to make larger quantities, but for camping, I am looking forward to using my aeropress.
