It had been a cloudy day but still hot, an easy one to forget the suncream. Matt had taken the unusual decision to wear a vest for the day as the climbs were going to be long and he wanted to top up his tan. Later he collapsed, his shoulders burning either side of his chainring tattoo.
* The production mats are currently being tested. Based on initial testing this is what we expect the value to be. These figures are an estimate and may go up or down.
We have some Fat Airics which we were very happy with. Unfortunately they have now been discontinued. So it's a relief to find that the Dozer which is their nearest replacement is just as comfortable, warm and well made.
The Dozer arrived flat as a pancake in it's 'fresh from the factory' rolled up state and took a couple of puffs to get it going on it's first inflate but once it was going it carried on quite happily. Once up it was about as thick as our Fat Airics (about 3 inches). It's odd but 3 inches doesn't sound or look much but it feels a lot thicker when you're lying on it.
There are a couple of differences between the Fat Airics and the Dozer. The Dozer has a different pattern to the filling at the head end but I can't work out why and it feels the same to lie on all the way along. The Dozer has a different bag and this is a great improvement. The bag has the compression straps that keep the Dozer all rolled up on the outside (the Fat Airics have separate straps). The straps on the outside made it easy to get the Dozer really tightly rolled up when we packed it away.
All in all and very comfortable and warm self-inflating mat that looks well made and should last well.
My only issue is that ours is a bit of an odd colour kind of brown and tan. I prefer the red and black of the Fat Airics but that's a minor issue really.
