Good for the money but a little noisy and suffers from condensation

We bought this for £40 (not the RRP of £65) and for that price it's brilliant.

We're new to EHU camping. We found having an electric coolbox really useful as we're not very good at remembering to get the freezer packs re-frozen while on site.

Anyhow to the review, this is basically a standard coolbox with a cooling unit in the lid. From the cooling efficiency point of view this is good as cold air sinks to the bottom of the coolbox and the hot air (on the outside) rises away. The lid doesn't have a seal around it to keep the cold air in, but the design means this is not really required. The lid with all the electrics can be removed which makes it possible to throughly wash the main part of the box, and store it with the lid inside so it doesn't get musty.

This coolbox is the same size as our non-EHU one which we're happy with (size-wise).

To help move the hot air away from the top of the cooling unit there is a fan in the lid which is a little noisy, although it's just the kind of hum you get from a PC fan.

The only other problem is that condensation builds up in the base of the main box, we used it for 2 days over a hot weekend and there was a noticeable amount by the end of the weekend, I guess this is the case with any kind of fridge but this coolbox seems to suffer more than most possibly because the lid doesn't seal.

The controls are clear (2 switches hot/off/cold and 12v/off/240v) as are the indicator lights showing the unit is working.

Being a 2-way fridge it's not possible to use it with gas only 12v (from the car) or 240V (from the mains). This is not a big issue for us and we decided that the additional cost of a 3-way fridge (they are £100+) was not worth it.

We it plugged in to the mains for a couple of hours at home before we left to get it down to temp, then plugged it in the boot on the journey to the site and then transferred it to the EHU when we arrived. Everything was lovely and chilled.

Anyway for £40 it's a great little coolbox.
