We have never carried a fire extinguisher with us when camping, just a fire blanket.
The main reason for this is the size and weight of fire extinguishers, and i beleive this is the same for a lot of campers.
So when i read a review of the Tundra AF400 i knew i had to have one.
Today it arrived and I was not disapointed. It is no bigger than a can of hairspray and not very heavy.
The instructions are very clear and it is a simple to use as a can of deodorant, it can be used on all common types of fire including paper, fabric, wood, cooking oil and electrical fires.
I hope never to have to use it but i feel much better knowing i have it and actually feel a bit bad for never having one before.
I would reccomend this to anyone and everyone who camps, for the money it is worth every penny.
Mine expires in march 2012 ...... Then i will test it ..... and buy another.
We carry a good old fasion large and heavy fire extinguisher in our setup! you cant be to carefull especially when your living under fabric.
So when I first see the Tundra AF400 I knew I had to replace our old out of date one.
Two reasons had me convinced. 1. The size and weight and 2. The ease of use. think that might be 3 reasons??
Anyway. I was not disapointed when it arrived. Just a little fatter than your average can of air freshener its small and compact perfect for your camping kit! For me and camping its a constant battle with keeping the weight down and the size of each item especially on those longer trips. And the fire extinguisher is not somthing you really want to drop from your kit. So very pleased to have been able to drop down in size and weight without losing out on quality and effectiveness. Actually the Tundra AF400 claims to be upto 4x more effective than a standard extingquisher! Further more is can be used across all common types of fire including paper, fabric, wood, cooking oil and electrical fires!!
So although small and compact certainly not small in effort and effectiveness!
Its rare that i'll give a product full marks! but sometimes every now and then a product comes along that deserves it.. And this certainly does!
Every person camping should carry one! either this one or any other! but i have to ask why would you choose anything else?
