Possible solution
We cook under the extension still outside but under cover.
Not tried this. but have seen one in action and could be possible solution. Keeps you outside but undercover. A carefully placed windbreak down one or both sides also helps.

Might be worth a look and thinking about. and its pretty cheap also.
Although coleman it is universal. we see one on the side not the front on an outwell tent don't recall the model sorry. but as its universal can be placed either front or side and usable on most tents.
