Vango amazon 600

Having looked at a number off tents I picked the amazon 600 2010 model. This has turned out too be one of my better ones as the tent has ticked all the boxes. The only problem I can fined is that the amazon range dose not do any extras eg: extensions . But now I have come up with a great idea. I have purchased a 2008 brand new amazon 600 outer flysheet. This is the complete tent excluding the poles and pegs whitch I have purchased

separate. Now all I am going to do is cut the sleeping section off and hay presto , one massive extension for cooking and to store things. One advantage off haven the 2008 model as the front of the tent now is that the canopy can be zipped off in bad winds whitch you can't do with the 2010 model.keep you informed how it turns out

Hi

Firstly a quick run down of the Amazon range of tents.

The Vango Amazon tent range has been around for a few years now and as such all the tweaks have been done, its about as good as it will get. For a family with 2-3 kids of mixed sex it has all the bedroom space you could need and a huge living area for days when your stuck in for a bit.

With huge windows the tents are bright during the day but can be darkend down with the large curtains. The sun canopy at the front which zips on should be used as a sun canopy and taken down in really bad weather, a 2 min job.

Re pitching, the best way to do this is as follows.

1 - lay the tent out on the floor without the canopy attached and peg the four corners with large pegs (buy extra pegs when purchasing your tent) making sure any adjustable straps are nice and slack.

2 - open the two side doors and go inside the tent to get some air inside.

3 - slide one roof bar through the pole sleeve by the side doors (middle roof pole sleeve) then place a leg on either side and connect to the roof bar and lift. As you lift air will be allowed into the tent making it easy to lift.

4 - make sure the tent fabric has not been caught etc and place the pins which are attached to the groundsheet into the bottom of the pole, remember all the adjustable straps should of been slackened off allready. Once the pins are in the bottom of the legs gently pull the adjustable strap until the strap is taught, but not over tight.

5 - repeat number four working one at a time out to the back then to the front of the tent. If the weather is breezy then close the middle doors and guy each leg and roof bar as you go.

6 - finish of all the pegging and guy ropes.

This way of piching will work with most steel framed tunnel tents such as the Outwell vermont range, the Outwell montana 6 tent. the Khyham Cleveland 6 and tents like the Kampa lulworth range etc etc...
