Up before you can say Yogi Bear.. well almost! Seen here with the Slumit® Canopy Pole Set (sold separately).
The two layered Slumit® CUB II offers a 3000mm HH waterproof outer fly - suitable for spring summer showers - and a stable, lockable frame structure designed and tested to withstand breezy conditions and winds of up to 25mph (40kph). The breathable inner layer (with 'no-see-um' mesh split walls and door) in addition to the integrated groundsheet, provides protection from unwanted creepy crawlies when sleeping. The breathable layer also reduces condensation build up - which is commonly mistaken for water fabric leakage.
For those unfamiliar with 'no-see-ums' they are much smaller but equally as thirsty as their blood sucking cousin, the mosquito! The CUB II's inner door and side vents are all equipped with no-see-um mesh.
The Slumit® CUB II is the perfect field companion for any general camper, angler, festival goer or backpacker where space is not so neccessary but feeling kicky, comfortable and secure is.

I saw an entry for Slumit on the internet while researching easy pitch tents for two and thought I would give it a go as the price was very reasonable. This tent certainly does pitch easily as it has all of its 8.5mm poles already connected to the outer tent. The poles hinge and lock into place on the outside of the tent. The inner tent remains in position and so there is no extra erecting, it is all done in one go. There are five guy lines with fluorescent stripes for night time safety. These are held in place by the robust ground pegs provided which, I have found, are not as malleable as some manufacturers provide.
I use the optional extra footprint as an extra base layer. This keeps the bottom of the tent clean and dry if pitching on wet grass as the tent is erected on the footprint. It also provides an extra insulated layer for colder camps. The groundsheet itself is made from 150D Poly Oxford material not the regularly used standard PE material resulting in a lighter, softer and stronger groundsheet than found in many other tents. The material used here is often found on mountain tents as it is more robust than the regular groundsheet and won't tear or fray easily.
The inner tent is large and well insulated There is plenty of room to sit in the tent with a useful eye for hanging a lamp in the centre of the ceiling. There are various sized pockets, three at each end of the tent, for odds and ends. Two large doors, one mesh and one cloth, leads into the porch.
The porch is very useful as a place for boots ruck sacks and the optional canopy poles. The porch door has two zips, one each side with a fixed top edge. When both sides are unzipped the porch door can be extended to make a canopy. I have found this very useful as a place to sit and cook if the weather turns wet.
At the end of a camp the tent can be packed away very easily by unlocking the joints. The whole tent folds onto the footprint so keeping the tent clean. I have found the tent very easy to use. All of the materials used give a quality feel and I am sure that this three season tent uses the best materials money can buy in its price range. The hydrostatic head, UV protection and fire protection levels make this impressively safe under normal camping conditions.
It definitely does exactly what the company claim on the website and I would have no hesitation recommending it to other campers. It is a high quality product at a very affordable price.
A couple of years ago when my girlfriend (now wife!) and i got together we purchased a 5 man Outwell tent so that we would have enough room for the 2 of us plus the dog to camp in relative comfort. That meant saying goodbye to my fleet of lightweight tents which i sold on.
The Outwell has been superb but predicatably i have had the odd twinge of regret at selling off all my little tents. There has been the odd overnight stop and summer weekend camp when a small, lightweight tent would have done the job. So that is how we came to own a Slumit Cub.
I wanted something quick pitching with a relatively small pack size and weight but at the same time big enough for 2 to camp comfortably for a night or two. I looked at all the usual culprits but was dismayed at the high cost of anything half decent and the low spec of tents at the cheaper end of the range. Then i stumbled across the slumit quite by accident. When it arrived i wasnt disappointed.
The flexi-frame system works brilliantly, it really does pitch as quickly as the snazzy video on their website leads you to believe. I was also impressed with the 3000 mm Hydrostatic Head and the relatively low weight (considering that quick erect system). The small porch is a usable space for storing muddy gear or cooking on a small stove and can be improved further by poling out the door as a sun canopy. Slumit will sell you an offical canopy kit but i found that 2 walking poles work just as well. The Slumits real strength though is that it packs away as quickly as it pitches, something that the usual pop up tents cannot boast. It also packs away into a normal, oblong shaped bag like any other tent, rather than the awkward circurlar shape of most pop ups. It also feels a good deal more sturdy than your average pop up.
The quality of the tent is good, easily the equal of my Coleman Viper that i had previously. The neat roll out groundsheet for the porch is attached to the inner so you can use it if you want or leave it open to the grass if you would rather.
Now for the gripes. Like all small tents at this price range there are a few cut corners. It could do with some extra guylines, the supplied pegs are next to useless and whilst the nylon fly is of a very good quality i think the groundsheet material could be better. I pitch mine on top of an old groundsheet for a bit of added protection.
My biggest bugbear with it though, is that the inner tent is just fractionally to small to fit a standard double air bed. It will fit with some jiggling about but it will push against the outer which could cause leaks in bad weather. That said, ive used it with smaller role mates and had no problems.
Overall, a clever little tent, perhaps not quite the equal of more established lightweight tents but much better quality than your supermarket own brand type and that quick erect frame system will keep your entertained all day
