We got back from our latest trip yesterday. It was a really good week away and the site was great. We have small children so when we go away sleep is important. Despite being very busy the site was quiet at night. This was helped by it having a no noise after 11 pm policy.
We left first thing Saturday morning which is not that common I realise and most of the people who had been camping near us left on Friday. This meant we got new neighbours for the last night of our trip. Unfortunately our new neighbours were a tad close and also they decided that they were going to sit up around their campfire chating into the small hours. This was a little annoying given the no noise rule but it was Friday night and the first night of their break so understandable. So anyway by 11.30 pm I was still having problems getting to sleep due to the neighbours prattling on (The kids and the OH had no such problems and were all fast asleep). Then I remembered that I had packed some ear plugs. A quick wriggle out into the main bit of the tent to find them, then back to bed, ear plugs in and ... blissful silence!
Sometimes it's the little things that make the big differences.
What a good idea.
Must add earplugs to my list of camping essentials. Our second night camping was ruined by a drunken loudmouth - eventually dealt with by Security but not till 5 am!
Along with the other hundred or so people camping in that field, I considered the mallet; I thought of a bucket of water; I planned to go and collapse his tent over him. Perhaps earplugs would have been the wisest solution
