Perfect camping footwear - Crocs

There is an interesting dilemma when it comes to camping footwear. You need something waterproof enough to repel the morning dew and recently rained on grass, but they have to be easy to take off and put on for when you come in and out of your tent. The ease of getting them on can be very important when you're trying to get to the toilet block at 3am without waking everyone else in your tent. In the old days (when I were a kid) we used to take wellies camping, which were fine except they are not too easy to get on and are not great for warm weather (obviously). The other alternatives were, trainers (hard to get on and off), sandals (not that waterproof) or flip-flops (I never got on with that bit between your toes). However there is now a very cool and trendy alternative that fits the bill perfectly - Crocs.

If you are a camper and have not discovered Crocs, where have you been? Waterproof (too a degree) easy to get on and off, can be worn with or without socks, easy to clean and get the sand out of. They even float if you go to the beach with them and lose one in the breakers. They are remarkably hard-wearing, I have a pair that are 3 years old and still going strong. The last thing I have to say in praise of them is that they are incredibly comfortable. OK that's it, Crocs r0x0rs I think is how the young people put it these days.

good for stinky toes too

another great thing is the anti-microbial whatever-it-is that makes them not stinky -- great for my sons’ famously stinky feet!
