We've just returned from our first family camp for this year. We had a great time near Cromer and all caught the sun a bit, which seems amazing as I sit here looking out at the rain.
We went without a hook up as when we booked there were none left. This gave us an interesting dilemma we've not had in a while and something I'd completely forgotten about. Where to pitch? With a hook up you have a pitch next to the hook up post you've been given. Without a hook up you can go anywhere in the field where there's space. We spent about half an hour trying to work out the best place to pitch. In the end we had an OK pitch but not great. I think I prefer the defined pitch a hook up gives in a lot of ways as it avoids a lot of the faffing around. Then again if you're given a naff pitch you're stuck with it.
We took a couple of new Gelert chairs with us this time and they were very comfy. My other half decided she liked the Caldera Moon Chair and claimed that early on, luckily I preferred Newton Lounger. We found them both really comfy. Despite being round when open the Moon Chair folds up like a standard camping chair into a long thin tube bag. The Lounger folds flat but is quite wide still so needs careful packing. We'll write full reviews of them soon.
The other new thing we had this time was a working tap in our trailer tent sink, which worked brilliantly. It was a lot less hassle than fiddling with a water container. We don't use the sink for washing up just filling the kettle, making squash and so on, so there's not much waste water to deal with.
