We still have a few things left to buy before we can seriously consider our first camping trip of the year. Luckily we have a bit of time to do our shopping, as the weather needs to warm up considerably too.

Essentials.

We have 2 essential items.

1. Sleeping mats.
2. Roofbox/Trailer.

I've discussed the sleeping mats in several other posts (the latest is here). We were all set to order the Fat Aircs last night, but now even lime are out of stock and the AlpKit team have gone to the Outdoor Show at the NEC, so no hope of getting a response until Monday (I have emailed them just in case).

The trailer versus roofbox decision needs some further research but, at the moment, I think the roofbox is winning. It's the cheaper option and would hold all the bulky but light stuff, like  sleeping bags. I will post some more on which one we go for once we've made our final decision. Can do without for now.

We have a big list of things that would be useful but we can either borrow or do without, but the main ones are a cooker and a camp kitchen. On our previous camping attempts we've borrowed a small single ring cooker (pictured right) from my in-laws and made do with a borrowed table as a camp kitchen. I think once we get the essentials sorted it won't be long before we get our own cooking equipment. We've had a couple of reviews for camp kitchens, but no cooker reviews yet.
