We've got an iPod Touch (it's like an iPhone without the phone ... should be called an 'i' really ... it's not mine) anyway I was asked if there was a camping app for it last night. One to let you find (and hopefully book or contact) campsites while out and about.
Well after a bit of digging in the app store all we could find was one from the AA. Which seemed pretty good actually. You could search for sites near a place or near your current location. It gave a brief description of the site and a link to the sites website and one to email the site.
I was surprised that pitchup or campingninja didn't have one, surely it's the modern equivalent of carying around a campsite guide? If anyone knows of any others that we missed let us know.
ACSI has nice mobile app
The Dutch organisation ACSI, which has a long history of comprehensive camping guides, has a nice mobile app to access their online database behind http://www.eurocampings.eu
You would need internet access for it. Offline use is not an option, but being an innovative firm I'm sure next year things will be different.
