Thanks to Sam Baker for sending us this guide to the new Mountain Equipment Titan sleeping bag available from WebTogs:
Whilst backpacking sleeping bags are more focussed on keeping the weight of your carry items to a minimum, sleeping bags for camping are primarily geared around a different need; comfort.
Typically, these sleeping bags are wider, softer and generally represent greater value for money, as the bags themselves are more durable.
Mountain Equipment have recently released a new collection of sleeping bags to suit users with these needs. The new range of Titan sleeping bags are aimed at the budget conscious users, however the bags are still as highly specified as you would expect from a brand such as Mountain Equipment, one of the most respected names in the industry.
Mountain Equipment range have focussed their new range on the core attributes which comprise to make an outstanding sleeping bag, including temperature measures, bag construction, and some useful additional features.
Whilst body temperature is obviously an important issue when using a sleeping bag, Mountain Range have designed the bags with a Sharks Toe foot, complete with a 5 baffle bulls-eye layout, keeping feet at a natural angle and well insulated. The bags feature an anatomical hood and neck collar which helps to keep out the cold.
Mountain Equipment have also implemented an innovative EXL system which pulls the bag in more closely, whilst improving loft and insulation.
Handy extras include the two-way zip and internally zippered accessories pocket.
Webtog’s technician Gareth has filmed a detailed video explaining the sleeping bags features in greater scrutiny, including explaining the down system in place, fill power, and storage functions.
